Vanessa Scully is a self-taught artist based in Austin Texas

I have had a pencil in my hand for as long as I can remember. Since childhood I have had an undying passion, almost an obsession, for creating art and bringing my visions to life on paper. I believe that this gift I had been blessed with could not be limited by young poverty. I started with nothing but a simple number two pencil and a piece of printer paper. As time passed, my artistic curiosity grew, and pencil turned to paintbrush. Paintbrushes turned into pushing the boundaries on what I could make and create with my heart and my hands. The drive to create something beautiful, meaningful and captivating is what makes me who I am. This life has taught me that art, and what we perceive as art, has no bounds and no limitations.

I create every artwork with the intention to evoke powerful emotion for all those who come across it. To fill someone with the feelings of love, healing, or a living memory. Some pieces are meant to represent inner power and strength and no matter the subject, there is a representation of my love and passion in every paint stroke. With every finished piece that leaves my studio for its new home, there is a part of me that follows. I put my love and energy into every artwork in hopes that it connects with someone’s soul the same way I have connected with it.

Having pursued and learned so many skill sets, made it possible to develop a diverse range of styles, which helps me to bring my collector’s ideas, visions, and inspirations to life. When painting am working primarily in acrylics and oils but what medium I choose to work with is based solely on the project or my client’s/collector’s request. From realistic portraits to fantasy and abstract paintings, my style and tastes change with my paint water. But at the end of the day, if I just need to create, I will always go back to my art in simplest form. Back to where it started. Myself, a piece of paper and a number two pencil.

If I am not working on a project, painting a picture, or making a mess, you’ll find me somewhere in the water, playing with me three dogs, or rolling through life on skates. I live by “my why” not attitude and I believe life should be lead with love. If you have any questions, or would like to reach out, feel free to add me on my socials. Have a beautiful day!
